We are seeking an UX Specialist to join our team and support our client in Baltimore, MDYou will work with development teams to understand their projects' user-centered design requirements, and develop creative solutions for meeting those needs.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the development team to follow a user-centered design approach as you work collaboratively to brainstorm and design innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Make recommendations to team members about which usability methods to use to answer their questions about users and design directions based on projects' needs, goals and constraints.
  • Work closely with team members to conduct user research, identify pain points, develop user profiles and create task lists.
  • Collaborate on paper and functional prototypes.
  • Contribute to requirements and design documents.
  • Run usability tests, conduct interviews and site visits, organize surveys, and perform other usability assessments you think are appropriate.
  • Help the teams interpret and understand user feedback, and provide input for design decisions based on that feedback.
  • Present data in an intuitive easy to understand format
  • Answer complex analytical questions through graphical representation

Work Experience:

  • 3 + years' experience building, maintaining, and supporting rich and interactive graphical representations of data (reports, dashboards).
  • 3 + years' experience developing compelling visual stories to effectively communicate meaningful insights from large data sets
  • 3+ years as a usability engineer, information architect, user experience designer, user researcher, or other equivalent title in software design and development
  • Direct experience with a variety of usability methods
  • 3+ years' experience with UI/UX design (e.g. wireframing, prototyping, comps)

Job Skills:

  • MicroStrategy 9i Dynamic Dashboard, Flash Widget design, Report development, Mobile Application development and project design: Facts, Attributes, Hierarchies, Aggregation, Portal Integration, etc.
  • Databases: DB2 and Oracle
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in integration of various data sources like Oracle, Flat Files, XML files and other data sources
  • Working knowledge of CMS XLC experience preferred
  • Java/J2EE
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for finding the little issues and poor interactions


  • Bachelor's Degree is required.  Preferred in business, computer science, information systems, human resources, or economics
  • HHS / CMS Clearance preferred

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • None required

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to present proposals and performance data, comfortable interfacing all levels of organization
  • Ability to write clear and concise creative content in a highly confidential manner


  • Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%).

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment.  May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
