We are seeking a Junior Network/Systems Administrator to join our team and support our client in Arlington, VA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Maintain and support technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components for mid- to large-sized projects. Performs installation, maintenance, and support of system software/hardware and provides user support. Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills to deal with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves problems. Performs engineering and roll-out implementation, configuration, debugging and support for multiple platforms. Monitor and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.

Work Experience: 

  • 2+ years' Experience working with system architecture including virtual environments
  • 2+ years' Experience supporting moderately complex-to-complex networks
  • 2+ years' Experience with HP OpenView and other network management products such as Cisco or open source
  • 2+ years' Experience with Windows 2008 Active Directory/XP/Win7
  • 2+ years' Experience deploying and managing Redundant Array of Independents Disks (RAID) storage devices, Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Storage Area Networks (SAN) for access to web, file, and database servers
  • 2+ years' Experience implementing and maintaining peripheral devices associated with virtual servers such as tape and virtual back up libraries
  • 2+ years' Experience implementing and supporting tape libraries such as One Dell PowerVault ML6000 Tape Library
  • 2+ years' Experience installing and supporting SANs such as Dell EqualLogic PS4110XV SANs
  • 2+ years' Working knowledge of setup and support of servers such as the Dell PowerEdge R820, which can serve as hosts for VMs
  • 2+ years' Experience connecting Windows-based workstations to servers on a local area network
  • 2+ years' Experience with server system management including account creation, account administration, account monitoring, security and auditing, operating system (OS) installation, maintenance, repair, network performance troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • 2+ years' Experience identifying, evaluating, and applying software releases, upgrades, and patches
  • 2+ years' Experience performing system backup and recovery functions
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Experience with STIG Guidelines and compliance
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS
  • Working knowledge of Remedy Discovery
  • Working knowledge of administering SAN technology including providing hardware evaluation, initial installation and configuration, performance and reliability assessments
  • Support the following network/systems administration activities for networks (WANs) and local-area networks (LANs): 
    • Installation
    • Implementation
    • Debugging/troubleshooting
    • Maintenance
    • WAN infrastructure design and management
    • Production support of networks, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution
    • Second-level problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
    • Supporting dispatch of circuit and hardware vendors involved with problem resolution
    • Supporting escalation and communication of status to management and clients
    • Working knowledge of current software systems and architectures, communications protocols, and network hardware

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience (0-2 years)

 Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

  • Network certification(s) preferred
  • IAT II (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP or CISSP) required
  • Current Secret or Interim Secret Clearance Required

Communication Skills: 

  • Excellent business and technical communication skills including the following: Email, documentation, presentation, Virtual, Telephone  

Travel:

  •  Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)

Environmental Requirements: 

  • Mainly sedentary work in an office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Flexible to work extended hours.
