We are seeking a Database Analyst to join our team and support our client in Arlington, VA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function. Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment. Conducts quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Advises users on access to various databases. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to job control language, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g. COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g. SQL). Performs database programming and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.

Work Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in client server or 2 years of distributed architecture environment in MIS or web-based applications development
  • Designed a maintenance and construction of databases enterprise-wide, including disciplines for planning and analysis
  • Experience with creating high level deliverables, including SOPs, process documentation, Status reports
  • 4+ years' experience with Oracle, MySql, SQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Evaluate and recommend available DBMS products to meet user requirements
  • Determine file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user application
  • Applies an enterprise-wide set of disciplines for the planning, analysis, design maintenance and construction of databases
  • Establishes standards for database management procedures
  • Provides technical guidance in database engineering techniques and automated support tools
  • 4+ years maintaining and administering Oracle Production, Development, Data Warehouse, Testing, and Training instances and their environments

Job Skills:

  • Perform standard database performance management, support,maintenance
  • Resolving issues escalated from the Help Desks, including evaluating alerts and error messages and taking necessary actions
  • Coordinating with development, network, and security teams for any database/Application related issues
  • Provide systems integration, testing, maintenance, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for all databases and web applications based on the architecture of the client's IT enterprise
  • Serve as technical database systems administrator for the Command's SQL databases and multiple SQL servers
  • Revise or produce appropriate documentation
  • Provide ongoing customer support as requested and required
  • Support client's reporting and data extraction requirements
  • Install, maintain and monitor the databases and Application servers
  • Work with PM on Database reporting 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • Oracle certifications preferred {Certified Associate(OCA), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Certified Master (OCM), Oracle Certified Expert (OCE) and Oracle Certified Specialist (OCS)}
  • IAT II (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP or CISSP) required
  • ITIL v3 Foundations preferred
  • Current Secret or Interim Secret Clearance Required

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent business and technical communication skills including the following: Email, documentation, presentation, Virtual, Telephone

Travel:

  •  Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
