We are seeking a Junior Network/Security Engineer to join our team and support our client in Arlington, VA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Performs standard project tasks to analyze information security requirements, translate these into security designs, implements these designs, and tests effectiveness. Has working knowledge of standard information security products including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus systems, vulnerability testing, and security analysis tools.

Requires competence in all phases of security requirements analysis, and information security system design as well as available products, and management practices. Requires understanding of U.S. Government security policy including Department of Defense and appropriate civil agencies such as NIST, as well as commercial "best practices". Experience includes holding technical responsibility for projects, and a successful history of task accomplishment.

Work Experience: 

  • Performs network security monitoring, security event triage, and incident response
  • Coordinates with other team members and management to document and report incidents
  • Maintains records of security events investigated and incident response activities, utilizing case management and ticketing systems
  • Ensure that we are implementing best practice security policies that address the client's business need while protecting their vital assets
  • Vulnerability scanning and patch management, access control governance and oversight, exceptions tracking, security tool management, tuning, and configuration, along with metrics and reporting
  • Performs support functions including asset inventory, vulnerability scanning, and other functions as needed
  • Strong networking skills to include WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, network configurations, and security protocols

  • Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience (2+ years)

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

  • IAT II (GSEC, CompTIA Security+, SCNP, SSCP)
  • ITIL v3 Foundations preferred
  • Current Secret or Interim Secret Clearance Required

 Communication Skills: 

  • Excellent business and technical communication skills including the following: Email, documentation, presentation, Virtual, Telephone  


  •  Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)  

Environmental Requirements: 

  • Mainly sedentary work in an office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Flexible to work extended hours.
